What a fantastic evening we had at TEL HI’s 135-Year Kick-Off Celebration on Wednesday September 18, 2024!
Around 100 attendees, including families, board members, supporters, community members, past board members and senior program participants, gathered to celebrate this incredible milestone!The event was emceed by Dion Lim Emmy Award-winning TV news anchor and reporter at ABC7 News, and District 3 Supervisor Aaron Peskin honored Nestor Fernandez, TEL HI CEO/ED, with a proclamation, recognizing TEL HI’s contributions to our community.We also unveiled our new public art installation on the gym wall, designed by Buchanan Design. This beautiful piece will serve as a lasting tribute to our vibrant community and history!Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating 135 years of service and connection! Here’s to many more years of making a difference together! -

Telegraph Hill Neighborhood Center (TEL HI) held its annual fundraiser event, a “Taste of TEL HI,” presented by Cruise at Oracle Park on May 3, 2024. The event celebrated San Francisco and its rich history and served as an important occasion to raise funds to benefit TEL HI programs that support children, seniors, and families.
Luz Peña, an Emmy® award winning reporter at ABC7 News in San Francisco served as emcee and Franco Finn, the animated hype man for the Golden State Warriors, as the evening’s auctioneer. Attending guests included California State Senator Scott Wiener, San Francisco Mayor London Breed, San Francisco City Attorney David Chiu, President and CEO of San Francisco Chamber of Commerce Rodney Fong, and President of the
San Francisco Board of Supervisors, District 3 Supervisor and Mayoral candidate, Aaron Peskin highlighted the evening. -

TEL HI organized a Toy Giveaway Event on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 in TEL HI’s gym for our local families! A huge shoutout to all the supporters who contributed to our Toy Drive. Thanks to your generosity, we distributed HUNDREDS of toys to children, adding a touch of magic to their holiday season!
The event was filled with fun holiday activities, including cookie decorating, holiday handprint stations, a visit from Santa, hot chocolate, and more. Even our seniors had a special treat – they were able to receive gifts tailored to their holiday wish lists!
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who played a part in making this event a reality, with special appreciation to @KTPREP Academy for matching all the toys donated to our Toy Drive. Your support made a significant difference, and we are truly grateful!

On Friday, May 12, 2023 TEL HI hosted its annual fundraising gala, A Taste of TEL HI at Oracle Park! The evening celebrated the current and past mayors of San Francisco with special guests in attendance including past mayors Art Agnos and Willie Brown! It was a wonderful evening of community, inspiration and of course fundraising for TEL HI’s programs and services!

TEL HI hosted its second annual Winter Fundraiser on Friday, November 18 in the gymnasium on Chestnut Street. It was a wonderful gathering that celebrated the season and the North Beach community! Guests enjoyed Italian themed cocktails, videos highlighting TEL HI’s programs and live performances from TEL HI’s Futurama theater program, the Pacific Islander Club and the Children’s Choir at St. Augustine. A delicious Italian dinner was served prepared by North Beach restaurants Piazza Pellegrini, Piccolo Forno, Mona Lisa Restaurant, Fior d’ Italia, Pat’s Café and Boudin Bakery. Special guests included District 3 Supervisor Aaron Peskin and SFPD Central Station Captain Douglas Farmer. All proceeds from the event benefited TEL HI’s programs and services.

On Tuesday, July 27, 2021 TEL HI welcomed City officials, local business executives, members of the press, and Mission Bay residents for a ribbon cutting ceremony for their brand-new, state-of-the-art Mission Bay Childcare Center! The event marked a big milestone for TEL HI, putting it in three different districts in the city!
The ribbon was cut by TEL HI Board President Dan Hernandez, Terezia Nemeth from ARE, Supervisor Matt Haney, ABC7’s Dion Lim, Nestor L. Fernandez II, Renel Brooks-Moon, Mayor London Breed, Assemblymember David Chiu, Uber VP Mike Huaco, Rodney Fong and Yoyo Chan, from the Golden State Warriors.

In 2017 TEL HI received notice that funding for the after school program, Futurama, at Galileo Academy of Science and Technology would end. Futurama provides sports, academic support, social clubs and more to over 100 high school students a day. Without this program the youth in our community would not receive the support they need to reach their goals.

TEL HI partnered with Pier 2620 Hotel to host its annual free Community Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday, November 16! Over 500 guests were served a delicious meal of oven roasted turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing and green beans all prepared and donated by Pier 2620 Hotel. To round out the meal Boudin Bakery donated cookies and sourdough rolls!
