TEL HI’s mission of service means everyone in the community benefits, no matter what your age, culture, background, etc. Our participant community is approximately 65% Asian/Pacific Islander, 15% African American, 10% Latino, and 10% Caucasian or Other. Naturally, the variety of celebrations, events, and meetings hosted here matches the diversity of people and interests in the neighborhood.
- Every Thanksgiving we serve turkey dinner with all the trimmings to anyone who comes to our door—free of charge. We had close to 700 guests last year!
- Our annual Lunar New Year Celebration gives neighbors a fun (and delicious) way to learn about cultural traditions.
- North Mountain Zendo practices group meditation here in the early mornings.
- In the evenings TEL HI rents facility space to community organizations, such as:
- Golden Gate Sport and Social Club
- NextVillage SF
- San Francisco Evangelical Free Church
- Cameron House
As a member of San Francisco Neighborhood Centers Together, TEL HI is always looking for new ways to build strong, healthy, safe, and equitable neighborhoods.
